I sold my integra ls and am buying an 89 prelude for money reasons. The only problem with the one I am looking at is that the clutch fluid leaks very slowly. Takes about 1500 miles to empty. When it is empty the car will not go into gear when the car is running but will when the car is off. When we refilled the fluid the car shifted perfectly. Two mechanics said it is the clutch slave cylinder. Does this sound like the problem? I wanna make sure this is the problem before I purchase. Please help. Thanks

 

i also have a slow leak and have heard that alot of preludes have problems and eventually need the slave cylinder replaced.

when the fluid is very low/empty u need to puch the clutch all the way to the floor to get it into gear. if the car is off u can move it into any gear (that's just how 5speeds work, they all do)

so either keep some extra fluid in ur car to keep refilling or get the slave cylinder replaced.

it could also be the master cylinder, but if i were u i would replace the slave and see if it still does it.....look to see if u can finds where it's leaking from, that could tell u what the problem is.

ok sounds good. The wierd thing is that there are no leaks on the ground. It could be that its just so slow and a small amount. It could be going onto the firewall. Where is the slave located? The mechanic said that it prolly is burning up on the transmission or something. Thanks for the help and future help
