Default my car is bogging down and vtec is not kicking in

i have 97 prelude and my car bumps a little b 4 3ks and then boggs down and vtec dont work help me out plz

change your oil and filter.... sounds like low oil pressure which could be from a number of things, but thats the first that comes to mind.

i changed my oil and oil filter same prob what can you do about low oil pressure

Sounds like a fuel/spark issue to me....Can you get into the upper RPM range, if not your in limp mode....check your spark & fuel pressure too. If they're fine, have an auto parts store do a compression check on each cylinder. Check your VTEC oil-pressure switch....it's under your distributer on the block w/a green plastic plug, maybe it could be loose or bad wires? Chime in if any of these works.

see if your fuel line is crimp(the one going from the fuel rail to the fuel filter).

so im trying to think of a way you can determine if its a fuel issue, and all i can come up w/ is pull the hose going from the fuel pressure regulator to the IM and test her out to see if it made a slight change or none at all. if it did, it might be your fuel. if it doesnt it probably is an oil pressure or spark problem.

I have the same problem, bogging down between 2k and 3K after some internet research my conclusion, o2 sensor going.
