Default Please Help...B18C bogging in vtec

I really need some help from HT tonight. My gsr swap in my em1 has gone crazy. I drove my car on friday and it ran fine....then saturday night I decided to take it out and everytime I hit Vtec the car feelt like im hitting a rev limiter. It boggs and loses power. I have no idea what is going on....a couple things I did already have been to clean the vtec solenoid filter, I check my plugs...not sure why, I ran lucas fuel injection cleaner. I unpluged the vtec and the car feels like a weak ls motor. I have ran out of personal ideas. I need help from some guru's. I hoping some one has had some experience with this problem. Thanks

it probably not building enough oil pressure to engage vtec. do an oil change and see what happens, if nothing, u might need an oil pressure guage to find out exactly how oil pressure ur getting. just an idea.

did you make sure all your electical connections are correct? what ecu are you using? i hope you are using a gsr ecu, because if not then the secondaries in the intake manifold will not open up, and that may be causing you to bog. at what rpm does vtec engage on your engine? on a stock gsr vtec engauges at 4500 rpm and the secondaries open up at 5500-5700rpm. laters

Thanks for the replies. I am running a gsr ecu(p72). Since I did my swap about 15k ago the car has ran fine until know. Vtec engages at 4500 but then boggs horribly. I have enough oil in my motor. I checked that too. All conectors seem to be pluged up. Im going crazy I just dont understand. Any more tips? My motor is completely stock. If that helps...

I had the same problem. Mine ended being a plugged cat. I noticed my header glowing red. Took the cat off and started it up. Revved to about 9k.

Did you guys (THugluv423 and seejay) Check your oil levels? Without enough oil your vtec won't engage.

My oil levels are fine. I always run 93 octante. I hope its my cat. I highly doubt it thought. My car is only six years old. Also if my o2 sensors arent working would my cat get plugged up?

It could be the cat? My car would lose power in higher rpms, sputter and just fall flat on its face. Found out it was the cat. Bump for some more ideas tho.

Where you at now? What are you doing these days? I dont know about changing the cat, id wait till I got some more advice on here before you listen to any advice I have to give... haha I was on Amnicola a couple months ago and I took it up to redline a couple times and I noticed my car bog and had no power, it would also dive and sputter when I would pull out, I drove it home and the car did all it could to keep up with traffic on the interstate... Later found out the cat was stopped up.

i had the same problem in my old hatch the vtec would sputter real bad it took a while to find the problem it was a bad connection from 2 of my injectors check those if they used butt end connectors cause sometimes they give out and its best to have them soldered on for a better results.

alright...im a little impatient and i didnt read any of the other posts but i had somewhat of the same problem...

-check your dizzy wires... i had one pin that was loose which caused it to sputter when going in to higher rpm's.
-check all the wires that going into your ecu... i had two wires that broke the weld and it caused my vtec to stop functioning.
-check your oil filter... this was the first problem that i ran into. i had a smaller oil filter on (ls) and when i changed it to a vtec filter (gsr) vtec started to work fine.

just a few things to check...
