Default is my car in the stock class?

My crx has KYB AGX with H&R sports. I read the rules and its a little confusing.
It says, "no more that 2 separate external shock damping adjustment controls. Gas pressure adjustment is not considered a damping adjustment"
Are the adjustments on my AGXes damping or pressure?
Regarding springs, it says that the car cannot be lowered unless it has a "swing axle suspension". Does my crx have this? Or will my car be bumped up in class?
Also, if I put on a vtec head on my car will the refs know?
Thanks.

KYB AGX are legal for Stock. They are a "single adjustable" damper, (meaning they have only 1 external damping adjustment control), and the AGX adjustment control affects compression and rebound damping simultaneously.

The springs bump your CRX out of Stock and put you in STS2 (provided you have no other mods that are illegal for STS2). You do not have a swing axle suspension.

Yes, they will. California's visual emissions inspection is VERY thorough - you will never pass with a "Mini-Me" engine because it is illegal.

Also, if you put a SOHC VTEC head on your D16A6, you will be bumped from STS2 to SM2.

Do you really want to win by cheating?

I assume that "ref" refers to a California smog referee, not an autocross tech inspector.

Hmm. In the context of his original post, I'm not so sure. Andrey?

Lowering springs bump you out of stock. Isn't that pretty straightforward, guys?

I'm not so sure. If you get the valve cover that just says "honda" you have a better chance at passing, but I think even with "vtec" on there most stations wont know whats up. It just depends where you go.

Regardless,

I think hes talking about the "refs" who check out your car @ the auto-x.

Just run it like it is @ a couple of practice events, then modify from there.

I don't know your racing experiance but it doesn't sound like you have a whole lot. With what you have listed you would be in STS2.

What is your racing experiance?

Yeah, just run it in whatever class you belong in. The biggest modification that will improve your driving in your first year will be between your ears. Learn how to drive before you spend the $. You might find you don't like autocross, and any money you don't spend now, is money in your pocket later.

BTW, "learn how to drive" isn't meant as an insult. Autocross requires different skills that you generally don't encounter elsewhere, and the only way to get those skills is to do it. That's all.

Hey, good luck, and most importantly, have fun and meet people. The seasoned autocrossers are usually very eager to help newcomers in the sport. Don't be afraid to approach someone and ask questions.
