snapping axles in a launch?
ok so here's the problem, I snapped both of my axles lately, nd they both happened when I launched the car, now I dont launch it very high just between 5800-6100 so that way it doesnt bog out...so my question is, am I launching it right? or do I just need more durable axles? now before you guys say stop slipping the clutch im not im actually dumping it...so Im just trying to figure out the problem, or what you guys would recommend?
The axles are cheaper than a rear end, one of the two are going to break. I guess you lucked out. If you get stronger axles, all that stress is going to send your rear end to hell.
thats just the thing the first time the left axle broke, I had launched it at about 7-8x nd it snapped right there in the middle of the street....

well if you broke two its probably your technique, not two deffective axles...to answer ur question, sounds like you should practice at a lower rpm...if ur asking us on here about tips for launching, then u dont belong dropping the clutch at 8k. sounds like u would be better off taping a brick to ur gas pedal and see what happens.
the stock s wasnt built with parts designed to launch under full throttle like ur doing, did u upgrade ur clutch or anything at all? or do u just like breaking expensive parts that require lots of labor?

if u never have a problem, then why are u on here posting a topic about busting not one but 2 axles, and if u slip the clutch u wont have the harsh instant torque pressure that breaks parts. s2k is not a drag car, u want to drive it that way fine but upgrade the parts to ones that can withstand the pressure u r putting them through...
and the upgrade comment is right...if u put in tougher axles u will be putting even more pressure on the rear end, so then u upgrade that, then ur putting a lot of pressure on the driveshaft, so that breaks, then by the time uve busted all those parts ur tranny is gonna be pretty messed up, hence drag racing competitively is so expensive, u dont just put a 600hp motor into a stock car and kick ***, u need to build a car meant to handle the power u put in it, and ur driving style.

I launch my 02 S at 8200 Every weekend at that track the car has 80000 miles on it and my axles are fine. The key to launching a car at the track is to preload the clutch. Basically hold the clutch right at engagement "DO NOT SIDE STEP THE CLUTCH" If you hold the clutch right at engagement there is much less shock sent through the driveline.
