I have a 95 hatch with usdm b16 and it idles up and down like three times and then it stops help please.

 

no one has any clue about what my car is doing my cars runs like a champ but the idleing bugs me

 

I have a similar issue. The idle tends to fluctuate between 1000-1500 rpm. A mechanic told me it wasn't something too serious, but the throttle body needed replaced to resolve it... Anyone know for sure?

This is a fairly common problem.

1st thing you should do is make sure the car is not throwing any codes.

2nd clean out your IACV which is located on the back of your IM..

3rd check for vacum leaks, ussualy on pr3 intake manifolds there is a nipple that has to be plugged. Sometimes when people do swaps they forget to plug this nipple which causes an irratic idle.


check those 3 things, its probably something very small...

 

i changed th tb twice and changed tha iacv and it only does it once in a long while now, thanks for the help guys.

 

What's the IACV and how do you clean it out?

 

The IAVC is on the bach of the IM. When you take it off it has a little screen on it. The screen can get very dirty so just spray some brake cleaner on it. It'll clear it rite up.

 

And what is it exactly? What does IAVC stand for?
