Default Yet again another IDLE problem thread

Ok, before i ask about my problem, I searched and found too much crap that didnt help plus i didnt feel like looking through 3 pages of stuff.

Ok, heres the problem. My b16a2 only idles as low as 1k. It also climbs up to 1500rpm then drops back down.

Ok, i know the first thing people say is "check for vacuum leaks" or "IAVC" well, that honestly means nothing to me. I need specific details! Someone help me. Going from 1000rpm to 1500rpm is so damn annoying... especially when my idle should be a lot lower.

Check under your throttle body for something called your Fast Idle Thermal Valve... FITV...I had this exact same problem on my B18C1 and this valve fixed my problem.

If you have a Helms, you should be able to find it, has a coolant line going to it.

Hope this helps..

A) Your B16A2 does not have a FITV, don't bother looking for it.

B) When you've got the high idle, unplug your IACV: What happens to the idle?

Have you messed with either of the throttle body screws (idle air bypass or the throttle blade stop)?

This picture is off of a D-series engine, but it should be similar.

Hope it helps.

Unplug the IACV connection and tell us what happens.

I'm having the same issues on my 99 Si...I just did an OBD1 conversion and intstalled an AEBS intake manifold. It worked perfectly fine before...now it's going ape **** sometimes...and working normally sometimes. Now, when I unplug the IACV, it idles fine...what does this mean???

When your IACV is connected, you get an erratic idle and when it's disconnected, your idle is ok?

there is also a lil umm.. i dunno what valve it is but, u can take it apart and screw it tight.. hard to explain. i should do a write up on it later when i get the chance to... doing this, alot of times cures the irratic idle..

I could be wrong, but I would assume that there is a malfunction in the IACV.

Do you mean the Fast Idle Thermo Valve?
