how do you remove em? is there a special tool? or is it just better to take it to a machine shop

u have to heat up the head, but just take it to a machine shop. if ur replacing them b/c a bent valve the seats r going to be marred anyway so u need to have the seats cut to fit the new valves or else ur just not goin to get a proper seal. i would reccomend replacing the valve seals too while ur head is off

im rebuilding the motor, and the guides and seals were leaking, i wanted to have em pulled, then have the head hottanked, then replace the guides/seals

heat up the head with some map gass and rip em out then, becarefull when replacing them its a delicate process they must be flush when re-installed u may also have to reheat the head to get them in too.

no special tool needed however there is one just use pliers
