The vafc1 won't make your car throw a code but it could make it bog out like that if it isn't setup right. Also check your vacuum lines on your map sensor and make sure its plugged in and the lines are in the right place. My dohc zc did that 2 me and my map sensor plug had fallen out
VAFC is wired inline with the map sensor to fool the ecu into adding/subtracting fuel. If the "IN" and "OUT" map sensor wires going into the VAFC are backwards, or have poor connections then you would get a code 3. Also if you have the VAFC tuned too far to one extreme, ie way way too rich or lean, it may also trigger a the map code as the ecu is trying to understand what is going on. This case would be a "false" code as everything is functioning/wired correctly.
In the menu there is an option to reset to default, although I can't remember how to do it. Check the manual and it'll tell you how to reset it.

if you set the vafc back to stock, then reset the ecu. is it still throwing a code? did you reset the ecu? are you sure? pull the hazardx fuse under the hood out for a min, then put it back in and see if your still throwin codes or dont have a clue what im talking about, just give me a call i'll meet you up and do it bro.
