Default Help! Weird wasegate issues

I keep burning through wastegate gaskets. its the gasket from the manifold to the wastegate. On the side of the wastegate closest to the motor, it keeps like melting half an inch of the gasket. The gasket will last about a week and then you can hear the exhaust leak. when i take the wastegate off, the gasket is like falling apart. I even used gasket maker/sealant and it lasts a day and it comes off on that same spot. I have no idea why and the exhaust leak is driving me crazy. TIA

I would assume that the actual flages are not machined perfectly flat and that is causing a small amount of exhaust gas to pass through till it eventually burn a bigger hole.

Try swirl the metal with a soft swirlpad, add a thin layer liquid copper grease(spray) and tighten the two ends together without the gasket.

If you arent using lockwashers get some. My wastegate was coming loose and and luckily I caught it before any damage took place.

which ones are you using now?

The ones in the link above are firering gaskets and are semi-metal reinforced. I use them and never had an issue on all my setups. I am still using the same gaskets actually.

yeah tial gaskets suck. i blew 2 of them on my 38mm tial wg. one actually blew and rolled up into a ball. i found it when i took off my wg once i ordered my "firering wastegate gasket". no more problems this gasket was made for the deltagate i believe, but works great with the tial wg.

fire ring gasket FTW
