first off let me explain what i have
i have a b17 gsr mated to a 1999 b16 trans by way of clutchmasters flywheel
and a xtd stage 3 six puck clutch
now to the problem. after instaling the trans all seemed to go good for a week or so then one night it wouldnt go into gear at a stoplight. i pumped the clutch pedal and it eventually went into gear. First thought bad clutch not disengauging right
this went on for 1 day then while driving i heard a bang from the trans and at the next light all seemd to work ok. well thats when the whining started. sounds like a 747. and now i can sit on a hill with the clutch pedal pressed trans in 1st gear foot off the brake and the car wont move until i hit the gas and release the clutch only to get a shudder out the hole then all is good. Still whining mind you! i replaced the fluid after 2 weeks and the oil was dark grey instead of the clear it should of been.

any thoughts would be a start. I am lost other than thinking i got a bum trans.
oh yeah and the clutch never slips grabs nice.....

 

ANYONE HAVE ANY CLUES?

 

i have always herd about things going wrong with those b16 trans, i was gonna trade my gsr trans for one but a friend told me that those b16 trans got alot of problems.....dont kno y but i do like how the b16 transmission pulls though.....

 

sounds like you should drop the tranny and take a look at the clutch and make sure the hydraulic system is working properly.

sound more clutch related, not tranny so thats where i would start.

 

It sounds exactly like what happened when I broke my Diff in my b16 tranny. I dont see how it can be clutch related if he drained the fluid and theres shredded metal in there, whining, and banging.

Its a broken diff man....

 

is the whining spped or rpm dependant?
could be your isb.

the s4c is a kick *** tranny to have, fix it.
