Default Last week was a sad day for my baby

My hood popped open at 120 mph @ redline when I was racing this modified GTP. I think I was atleast 7-10 cars in front of him btw. Anyways, I was about to shift out of 4th to 5th when my hood suddenly popped open. I pulled over and looked inside. #3 spark plug wire popped out of its chamber. I thought this was very strange and made sure all wires were tightly snugged in their placements.

That's when the check engine light came on (blinking) and the car's response fell sluggish. I guess a major pressure went back into my spark plug chamber and therefore shooting the wire out of its placement and opened up the hood. I am total believer in hood locks now.

I did a compression test later and found these measurements...

205,205,195,70

After 20,000 hard miles of 6-12 pounds of boost on my stock B18c1, I have now sacrificed my baby's heart to the boost gods. It's life came to an end at 50,000 (dealership warranty) mark.

I am in the process of ripping out the engine and sending it to GE. I am also going to put 9.5:1 wiseco pistons and eagle rods. And naturally a Hondata 2B will be installed...hopefully it will be professionally tuned. My goal is 350 wheel horse power.

I just wanted to share this with my fellow FI brothas/sistas.

Betsy will be up and running soon....

P.S. - How much boost can I do on 9.5:1 with a GE built block and on 93 octane? Thanks for the info and support

This in not a sad day, it is a call for celebration. Now you can boost more!

So your saying your spark plug wire flew off,hit your hood and blew it the hood open, i dont think that's possible,id say the more likely, the 120mph wind gust that blasted the engine compartment jarred the plug wire out after the hood flew open
