Default Spark plug explode

The weirdest thing happened to me today and I wanna know if anyone can explain this.

I had just come from my local Walgreens and was heading right home, when all of a sudden, I felt a sudden "boom" come from my engine. The car then begins to massively stutter, and in panic I pull over to see whats up.

I pull open the hood and try to see if i hit something. It was really dark outside so I couldn't see well and I had no cell so I couldn't call anyone and so I had no Choice but to take My Lude Home even if it stutters.

So I start the car again and it stutters, but I mean It STUTTERS! So I drive maybe 3 miles going like 20 mph tops back to my house and pull up into my garage and check it out. I then notice that my spark plug cables was unplugged so I plug it back in and turn the car back on to see if I fixed it.

I then hear a shot hit my hood and then the stuttering begins again. So I pop open my hood to find out that that same plug got spat out again! WTF....

So I check and notice that my spark plug was missing?? How.....

Could the pop I heard been from my spark plug suddenly exploding from the engine and that what caused the crazy stuttering? How can a Spark plug suddenly pop out of place?

Maybe the plug was cross-threaded/stripped or not in very tight. One of the strangest things I've ever heard.

x2 i've never heard of this before. if i were you, i would not run my car. especially since you said your spark plug is MISSING? there's only two ways it can go, in or out. you better hope to God it's out. otherwise, i'd be more worried about other things right now.

put a new spark plug in tight and try it again, if it happens again.. its inside and you're looking for a new motor / resleeving yours.

You most likely left that plug partially or completely loose and it worked its way out.

Hopefully the threads in the head haven't been damaged; otherwise, you're going to have to use a Helicoil or Timesert.

This same thing just happened to my 05 Oddyssey. After a road trip from Colorado to California...ten miles to my destination, I hear a loud pop in the engine. I pull over on the free to inspect, can see anything, but the engine is extremely loud. STUTTERING really bad. Drop up the exit ramp, and then noticed, that my spark plug is completely gone, the valve that goes inside the engine is broken into two peaces, the threads for the spark plug inside the engine are gone.

I had no indications of overheating, engine failure, service lights, etc. Any ideas?

The valve that goes inside the engine broke into two pieces? i think that might be something serious.

I believe this is quite common in 4.6 Mustangs. A guy I knew had it happen to his car and as he checked into it he found several other 4.6 drivers had the problem. Never heard of it in a Honda though....

This, or a friend of mine had this exact thing happen to his Civic. What ended up being the problem was Auto Zone gave him the wrong spark plug wires for his car, so the wires never seated perfectly onto the plugs.
