Default code 17 speed sensor

is this a part that is ok to get from the junk yard or a "must buy new" part?
if junk yard is ok than will any sohc work? Vtec or not? i have a 95 ex d16z6 tyranny.

Used - usually like $30ish?

New - like $100 I think

IMO its not a must buy new thing. As long as its in decent condition. Pretty sure any other D-series VSS will work (I put one from a D15b8 onto a D16Z6)

check your alternator/speed sensor fuse under your dash.. what my problem was when it thew that code

clean the connector at the tranny first.

I've only ever seen one VSS fail.
