Default Mini Me Questions?

alright so im plannig on doin a mini me swap on my 96 dx hatch.

Im goin with a d16y8 head, y8 IM, and y8 timing belt.

I also want to run a p28 ecu. how advanced from a scale from 1-5, 5 being the highest do you think wiring obdII to obdI is.

i know ill have to back date some of my sensors but but i dont know all of the sensors??... ive heard that im goin to need to get an obdI distributor and other things but i dont know???

i was also wondering wat sensors besides the knock and the solenoid do i need for vtec???

one last question: wat is your opinion on a pressure wash for underneath your hood??

please any info, advice or experiences would be great.. thank you

If you wanna spend 60 bucks for an obd2 to obd1 harness off ebay, then 1 for the wiring. All you need is the harness and the ecu, and the harness is just plugging the thing in on both ends.

PS: You don't need to change anything, not even dizzy. I went obd0 to obd1 and I'm using a d16y8 dizzy.

DONT DO IT

its a bullshit waste of time and money, just save the extra couple hundred and buy a complete swap, it will save you a headache in the end.

AGREED! But save up for a b series swap and you will be much more happy. A mini me is a big waste of time and in the end is no faster then a Z6 or Y8. i'm personally done with d series as they may be cheap to replace and all that but your limited to how far you can mod the motor without having to do a crazy build. it's just not worth it.... go buy a z6 or y8 and swap it in. just my $0.02

thanks for the input... i already have a b18c1 eg...and becuz of my current car i really wanted to go for a boosted SOHC jus to be different.. but if im gonna run into a lot of problems i might just go b18b with a b16a or b18c head and then boost with a gt40... the only reason i want to a do the mini me is becuz i think its gonna be way better for the motor wen i boost... im not really looking for huge gains in power but rather a more solid base for a turbo... wat does everyone think?? great info so far... thanks

VTEC heads definately have a lot more flow, but I think turbo then vtec will be more fun.

nah, if you are gonna boost it just stick with what you have now, no need to add unnesacary expenses to the project for a few extra HP.

Why? Where are you located? Does your area require emissions testing?

He said he was planning on boosting, I assume he'll be chipped and tuning it is why.

If you're gonna boost it then I'd say it is worth it. If you're going to keep it n/a then it's not worth it.

I have a y7/y8 mini me and will be boosting it in 1-2 months. I haven't dynoed it before so I may go and get a baseline so I can see where I'm at.
