Default Jackson Racing Supercharger for b18c5

Right now I've got a J/R supercharger on the b18c5. I've got jdm cams, aem feul rail, and aem fuel regulator. I'm in the process of purchasing a p28 and hondata s200. I've also got 440cc injectors, not installed, and I may get the msd ingition system.

Now my question is, with this stuff, what's the safest amount of psi I can go without busting stuff? I can't afford sleeves at this time and I don't know about upgraded axles.

I like the power it has now and I'm getting stuff ready to be tuned. I think the J/R SC comes with the 6lb pulley. I checked the website and they have 8 and 11 lbs. Can I get the 11lb pulley and belt with everything and run safely? Or just get the 8lbs?

What else do I need? I saw they have an upgrade t-stat and fuel pump for stage 1. What's that stuff for? I'm still kinda noobish to this stuff. What I know is from what I've read and picked up from my friends.

Thanks

well theres a huge jrsc thread here right here in the fi forum, check that out for tons of info.
thought it is getting a bit too huge now...

yeah screw the mds ignition, u dont need that.
u need a good tuner is wut u need.
imo 10psi is the key ammount of boost to run.
11psi is a bit much
personally i run 9 on my setup.

u dont need to build ur motor or whatever,
u just need to tune tune tune
hondata and 440's are a good start as far as tuning parts

Yea I just saw the JRSC thread, it's 112+ pages, I guess it was just bumped up.

What happens if I use 11psi? I could blow something without a built motor?

Cause I wasn't aware they offered a 10lb pulley.

motors are blown due to:
1. going lean or knocking (both tuned by fueling and ignition retard system)
2. producing more hp than the engine can take (regardless of amount of boost)

GSR motor can take up to 300whp if tuned properly.

Take look at this months Honda-Tuning. They supercharge a stock 98 Type R.

well what worries me about 11psi, isn't your motor handling it(it can handle it fine if you tune it right... but thats money). I'd be more worried about ur blower overheating, and shortening it's lifespan.

11psi is prettymuch the cutoff for reliability on those blowers.
and often at higher rpms the blower will get a one or two psi jump in boost..
so you might be running 11psi all the way up to like.. 7500-8000.. but just for that little bit after it might go up to 12 or something.
PROBABLY not really a big deal.. it just worries me is all(but i'm a bit of a worrier).

for example, I'm running a 3.4" pulley which nets me 9psi, until after 7.5k rpm when it goes up to 10psi

Mainly get in touch with a really good tuner.

Jeff Evans ...??? ... isn't he near you?

Talk to them about where you're at now and where you want to go. They can point you in the direction of the parts and tuning software you need for them to help you reach your HP goals.

A main stream tuner will have tuned multiple SC set ups and can give you personal exsperience

This sounds good, in my mind, I wanted to get as close to 300whp as possible. But I don't really know if a SC can produce that much power. That was the reasoning for this post, so I can get information about what I can and can not do.

I'll try to get in touch with a tuner and we'll see. It sounds like 9 or 10 psi is a pretty safe setting.

I would say an ITR with a SC is plenty capable of 300whp, especially with Jeff Evans behind it.

You're not as close as I thought but under 3hrs. I wish I was within 3, or even 6hrs of Evans tuning.

Here is some contact info:
http://www.evans-tuning.com/contact.html

I would definately get ahold of him and give him a run down of what you're runnin with now and I am sure he can point out any additional parts you might need to meet your goal.

If you're not familiar with Jeff Evans work his SN on here is BoostedHybrid , you can search and check out some of the other cars he has tuned.

Let us know how it goes

My stock M62 blowers just got way too hot above 10 PSI. they put out 200+ degree air and eat the coating off of the rotors, making them even less efficient. You should be able to make a lot of power on a nice high CR ITR motor with 8-10 PSI of boost. Also look at the LHT intercooler, it's the best thing I ever did for my blower:

You don't really need the fuel rail, ignition, and you probably could get off with out the FPR, GL though S/C ITR sounds fun. Get some nawwwwss for it too :D

actually, the limits on stock motors are TORQUE, not hp. you have a limit of about 230ftlbs (dynapak). HP is irrelevant. you can make 700whp as long as you don't go over your torque limit. my old GSR motor did WELL over 300hp @ 226ftlbs.
