best trans for ls in 91 dx?
right now i have a sir b16 trans on it and its ok but i would like some more top end power. would an ls tranny be better for this or is the b16 one the best it gets?
Yea B16 defenetly the best as far as acceleration goes... If you have the power to push a longer tranny then maybe but i doubt you would be wanting more topend power if you did
There are arguments for days about the subject of long gearing vs Short So thats as far as im going

B16 tranny is the best but if it is too shorted geared for your tastes or traps go GSR.

No I just find it funny you state you want to fight.
This is not a debate like what rims are cooler or is red better then black?
This is a simple math problem, the LS tranny is worse for acell and little torqueless motors need to multiply the gearing more. Shorter range trannies ALWAYS have better acell but revout more and hit top speed sooner.
My LS1 makes over 350 ft lbs of torque now I drive around town in 4or 5th 4th is a 1:1 gear with a 3:42 rear a honda could NEVER even budge like that. You need the torque to be able to get away with that.
The down side of running a b16 tranny that seems to cause the silly myth is first and 2nd gear is worthless from wheel spin. Way to remedy proper sized slicks upgrading your X member etc. The other down side is even with quite large slicks your top speed will be lower then with a GSR or LS tranny.
Those "downsides" are greatly out weighted by the better gearing in the other trannies.

Ohhh ok well you worded it all weird
But thats a very basic break down for you, I have had both GSR and b16 I must say for a daily I like the GSR better *longer 5th* Some people also do a b16 + LS 5th.
tell your friends so they stop the LS is better rumor
Happy to share info thats what HT is all about
