vtec not engaging
hey guys on my buddys car we put his head back on his car, and now vtec is not working. i dont know y though, we checked the vafc harness, swapped the vtec solinoid and nothing all good.also has oil and oil pressure at 80-90. let me know what u guys think it could be thanks guys
no cel and yea the vtec solinoid is connected tand the gasket is clean also. does anyone else have any ideas if its electrical or mechanical?

I hope you are kidding.
Because it absolutely does have to do with vtec opening. And is a vtec troubleshoot item that should always be checked.
If the VSS has a sheared or melted wire, corroded plug, is unpluged, or is just plain broken, vtec will not engage.
The only substitute for this would be in high hp FWD drag cars that sometimes do not use conventional trannies, and, require an MSD rpm switch for vtec activation.
If this is an LS/VTEC motor you may wanna check for a blockage or leak in the external VTEC oil line or fittings. Your oil pressure reading may still be normal even if there's a problem with it.
