Default painting door handles etc.

alright, i have a dx civic...so there are a lot of black parts ...so i want to paint my door handles, license plate deal, and side moldings. my question is...is it that bad to spray paint it?...will it come out terrible?...my thinking is that they are small parts and it shouldnt look too bad...does anyone have experience with this? any pictures?...if i don't go this route, about how much will a paint shop charge for this?

thanks for any help

I wouldn't bother spray painting, the best you could hope for would be "ok." I know I had mirrors painted at a very good (as in, not cheap) place for like $50. I'm thinking you could get those pieces sprayed for $100 or less.

when painting these plastic parts, there is a big chance that it will chip off. For me, i helped paint some door handles for my buddy and it was done all by rattlecan!

thats too mush orange peel for me^^^^

in painting anything, the paint will only look as good as the prep work. you need to sand them and work your way up to 400 grit, then prime them, then paint them, then clear them. you might want to use an adheshion promoter, or flex primer too

I did this awhile back: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=965005

It turned out pretty good for cheap spray. The color was an almost perfect match (you could tell a little up close). But now it has been almost 2 years and you are able to tell more. I would totally recommend using a real spray gun or getting it done professionally.
