Painting Door Handles and Side Mirror **Help**
I had my '98 GSR stolen a couple months ago and so I picked up a '03 Civic DX. I wanted to color match the door handles, side mirrors, etc but when I went to a paint shop, they told me that it couldn't be done because the paint will not adhere properly to the material. This was surprising because I have seen many DX/LX owners that had these parts painted. Of course, I want the paint to stick well so I'd like to have it done right.
For those that had these parts painted, what kind of prep did you have to do in order to have the paint adhere? Is there some type of paint primer that's supposed to be used?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

most plastics require a special coat of what is called an adhesion promotor that helps the paint stick/cling to the plastic and sometimes heat is required to aid in the process.also check with an automotive paint store for a special paint in an aerosal can for plastic trim peices this should also work.
I know that Wurth and Marhyde make this stuff, just dont know about availability!
