Default should oil pressure be lower on a low comp. engine?

i just built my dohc zc .....and the compression came out lower then i planned (8:1) but it is boosted, while i installed the motor i also hooked up an auto-meter oil pressure gauge (it's mech.) when im driving the gauge reads around 75-80 psi, when the car is warming up it reads around 60 psi....but when i let the car idle it reads right under (or at) 20 psi.

why is it only 20 psi at idle???? (the reason im worried is because my integra has around 30-35 psi @ idle)

Oil pressure is pretty much determined by the oil pump, and more so the bearing clearance.

no.. when my sending unit was working my crx would go that low @ full warm idle. I wouldnt worry about it.

don't forget ZC is D-series, Integra = B-series. different motors = different oil specs.

that is fine. I built my motor about 5 months ago and I get (when fully warmed up) about 25-30 at idle and about 85 at high rpm. When cold I am at like 80 idle (when I first start the car). You have good oil pressure. What I have (and is a good idea) is an oil pressure gauge (a good simple one) which I assume you already have and also a big warning light (it will come on whenever the pressure drops below say 18 psi) and don't mount the sensors on the block, run a -4an braided line to the firewall where the sensors are. Also, I have a 2 qt. Canton Accusump with a manual ball valve plumbed with -10an line. If you evef get low oil pressure (say driving in a long corner) the Accusump acts as an oil resevoir and will push like 10-20 seconds of oil until the car regains oil pressure on it own--also it acts as a pre-oiler I have like 30psi before I even start the car. They are cheap (relativley for what they do) like $400 for the whole setup including the an line.

Using your setup D16dcoe45 will prolong engine life by a good ammount, and basically remove start up wear. Best setup you can run!
