Default Thermostat and LS turbo

i have LS turbo and my thermostat seems to gone bad, luckily the thermostat seems to be stuck opened and not closed so my car doesn't overheat. some of my homeboiz said that its good to have the thermostat stuck open or to ditch it with a honda turbo so the car will never overheat. the guys at honda said it kills gas mileage for the thermostat to be open and i noticed the car never gets to normal operating temperate while driving and i do burn a lot of gas. i would rather not run into any overheating problems and sacrifice gas mileage for that but what else do you guys think is another bad idea to have the thermostat stuck open/have no thermostat at all? should i get a new thermostat immediately? what are other long term problems that could appear? thanks.

just replace it with an oem thermostat. obviously its not good for your car to overheat but you dont want it to be running cold either. it should be running at normal temp. the ect sensor is probably screwing with your a/f ratios and timing causing the bad gas mileage. also the thermostat slows the speed of the coolant so it can absorb the heat out of the engine

My tuner couldn't tune my car properly because the thermostat was stuck open, the car would cool down while crusing and wouldn't stay at normal operating temp. When the car isn't at full operating temp, it runs rich. Do yourself a favour and just replace it with oem.

You want to use a stock thermostat from Acura or Honda. The car needs to reach normal operating temperature.
