Hey guys, I live in Chicago, and as many know, its FRIGGIN COLD here. My car seems to have this problem of never warming up. To be specific, my engine temperature needle never rises! No matter how long I run the car, it stays at a very low temp, just barely above the C. In addition, my heater never becomes warm, no matter how long I run thd car for. I know that having my car gutted in the winter is no good, but what else can be causing my engine to stay so cold?

it could be your thermostat. I had the same problem then changed my thermostat and it was all good

Sounds to me like you are running without a thermostat at all. your water is just flowing around and never staying still long enough to pick up any heat.

its most likely either stuck open , or its a summer thermostat , not a winter one.

report on the gas mileage, my car takes a while to warm up so i dont the thermostat is closing all the way....yes the thermostats fail, and i heard your oil will sludge up if you dont get it fixed...

anybody know the best thermostats to use? you also need to flush the coolant out aswell, so whats the best coolant to use? (for this guys sake) i use OEM but heard issues with the thermostat, and the coolant is $$$$$$$$$$$

Sounds like stuck open thermostat, although previously mentioned.

sounds good guys, i guess ill need a better thermostat for the winter anyways...Also, my car is gutted, so I guess its not good at retaining heat. Any tips to imrpove my cars insulation without putting interior back in, lol i dont have the pieces anymore..
