opening the trunk
Doesn't this depend on which year?
I know on my 2001 ITR, you have to use the latch underneath the center lip of the hatch, and the car has to be unlocked.
On my 1994 GS-R, there is no latch there (although using the key in the rear pops the hatch lid), but there is a remote release latch next to the fuel filler door latch (on the floor next to the driver's seat). I thought the early years ITR (maybe '97-98) were the same way...?
However, either latch is for OPENING the hatch. I see now that the original question may habe been about UNLOCKING the hatch. (It's not exactly clear.)
On my 2001 ITR, you can unlock the hatch with the key, or you can use the remote. If you use the remote, you have to hit the open button twice. (First hit unlocks the driver's door, second hit unlocks the passenger's door and hatch lid.)
On my 1994 GS-R, you can unlock the hatch with the key, or you can use the remote. If you use the remote, you hit the button once and it unlocks everything.
Does that answer the question?

sorry i wasnt clear
its for the 2000.. i know with the alarm, i have to unlock it twice, and then use the switch under the trunk to open it..
i was wondering if there is a latch (like the gas cover) that will allow you to unlock the trunk, so all you have to do is move the switch to the left to actually open it.
but im guessing there isnt

the only place to open the trunk is from outside the car at the trunk, no switches or levers inside at all. i'm sure you can get something setup through a car alarm if you really wanted to though. my 2001 has to be pushed to the RIGHT, are you guys telling me it's left on the 2000 model??

The remote release latch was used though 1997, the 1998+ have the lever on the hatch.
