Default obd1 emissions

I have a 99ex with the stock obd2 system. I am thinking of switching to obd1 so I can do some tuning. When it is time for me to take emissions, will I run into any problems because they are going to test for the obd2 system? Any help will be appreciated. Thanx

i dont know IL emmissions, but if they do a readiness scan, and you are obd1 it will fail.

what if I get the obd2-obd1 conversion harness and just get an obd1 ecu and distributor. When emissions comes around, I could just remove the obd1 dist. and ecu and be good right?

If you pass right now, then yes, you could just make your car how it is now just to smog it, and you will pass.
