best tranny for d16y8 on boost
i know there isnt alot of options but im building a sohc vtec motor... and i was wondering if i should use the same tranny (ex) or put a DX tranny i have back there which according to everyone around here is better for a boosted car
why put in a longer gear
short gearing - faster acceleration
long gears is good for boost is a myth
it may fell like your going faster cuz your in boost longer but doesnt mean your going any faster

but all the time that u waste on shifting can u still be riding out that same gear...yea ur going to feel more acceleration and deliver more torque probaly but also take traction into consideration and the fact that more time to be on boost than to be shifting

a turboed sohc isnt gonna be making enough power to break traction very easily. almost 9 times out of 10, shorter gearing > longer gearing

That doesn't make sense. "Feel acceleration"? You don't feel it, it happens. I can only brake my tires loose when I dump the clutch in first and these tires are on the verge of being bald. And being in boost longer means nothing when you fall 1500 RPMs out of it when you shift.

dont try to justify longer gearing being better...its just not.
Look, here is the same damn topic, but b-series

hmm, looks like the people that know what theyre talking about say short gearing.
Yes, youre sitting in boost longer...and going slower too
