I swapped a JDm d15b into my 92 LX sedan about 2 months ago. Shes been running on a JDM P08 ECU with a new NGK 1 wire 02. I have a few problems tho..

IF the timing isnt almost all the way retarded it spark knocks on 93 Octane. Also if not almost all the way retarded...i have this sporattic miss when its cold. But when you retard the timing it runs perfect but i have NO power. Whats wrong?

I have tried 2 sets of NGK plugs, currently running ZFR6F-11. With NGK wires, and a new cap/rotor.

 

A few things to mention...i know i need a new catalytic converter, i havent yet opened the timing belt covers...its never been molested.

Oh and my gas mileage sucks ***...only 260 miles a tank...driving 90% grandma style.

 

The gas mileage is normal. I never see over that with my d15b, but I have not low fuel light, so I usually won't push it past 280 on a tank.

I would change out your cat if you know it is bad. I don't have to retard my dizzy much and I am running the p08 as well.

But, I'm not lacking in power

timing belt jumped a tooth? It will make your car miss and lose power

that about how mines is. could you have a bad o2?

 

its a brand new NGK 1-wire, and its running stoichiometric almost all the time...

 

thats some pretty sick gas millage, with that motor, stock in my hatch i get around 500 km/tank on the autoroute travling at 130km/80mph.

 

Well your gettin shitty gas mileage and NO power because of the retarding of the dizzy/timing. When you turn it back you slow everything down. Check your timing belt. Also check the timing with a timing light. Not sure what it should be with your setup, but loosen the dizzy and as your checking it move it to the stock setting and see what happens.

i keep my timing the same as a d16z6, since its pretty much the same engine - 100cc's it runs fine with that i think its 16 degrees advanced or somthing in that area.

 

im trying to figure out why the d15b is so slow also... my bro bought it thinking it would be like the z6 but its not even close...

having the same problem man d15b with p28 and the jdm lsd tranny. seems like until i hit around 3900rpms the thing falls on its face when i mash on it. and i get like 440km per tank (dunno miles conversion in my head). i've checked for vacuum leak, nothing there, adjusted the timing to stock d16 settings it was better but still not as much uphm. i'm going to try seafoaming it and see if that helps, maybe the previous owner of the engine gunked it up or some ****. good luck figuring it out man, if i figure anything out i'll try and help ya

 

eg2wes, thats exactly what mines doing....no power under about 4 grand. I know its not a monster but still it should have enough to pull up a hill
