Unless you have a scanner the only other way well easy way is to hoop up a light to the solinoide and drive around to make sure its going on. Dont forget you need to be going a certain speed for it to work not just rpm.

especially if you are running a y8 head!

seriously though...try the light hooked up to the vtec solenoid ( grn/yel) wire. hook the wires in parallell. one wire to vtec sol. the other to ground. remember that you have to have a light at the other end...lol!

There's three that i know of that were offered from 92-00 in the US, d16z6(92-95 civic ex/si and probably delsol si), d16y8(96-00 civic ex/delsol si), and the d15z1(vtec-e, made for efficiency, not performance)

The light is the best idea, just do it so you can disconnect the light from the wire and not worry about exposed wires.

What's the p2p ecu? if it's the one you're car came with, it won't work(assuming you don't have an ex/si)

yea isnt the EX ecu for 96-00 a P2E ecu? I could be mistaken on the exact code, but they are really cheap.... Best bet for a ECU, better than trying to get a virgin p28 for a obd1 car... lol.... There hard too find...

I don't know if you're joking or not. But DON'T do this. IMO, I would just wire a light up to it.

I didnt really read this based on how dumb of a question it is.

do you have oil?
Do you have a vtec ecu?
do you have it wired properly?

you arn't suposed to feel vtec, it's not like you get some supernatural push at 5400 rpms.

you also can't engage vtec at a stop, you have to have the correct oil pressue, speed and proper engine temp.

If you can't hear it get slightly louder around 5400+ then shove a short pipe on and try it again.

now we know that buying ecu's on ebay is a bad idea!
a vtec head slapped on a non-vtec block is hardly a huge gain in power. What the expletive were you street racing for anyways? dumbass.
