A test for VTEC!!!
does anyone know what i can do to test, and make sure that the VTEC is operational!
my gsr is stock...so i know i will not hear or feel vtec that much...I just want to be sure all is working since i cant hear jack!!...at times i can feel its presence..
But anyway...
can i test the solenoid for voltage or something?
i don't know where the vtec solenoid is located, so anyone with suggestions..please be detailed...
Thanks and much appreciation!!

if ur still acclerating quickly and ur in the range of 4400-8000 rpm then vtec is working. on a stock gsr u cant tell when vtec kicks in, u would know if it wasnt working though.
sorry i dont i know how to test the solenoid voltage.

hey....thats cool!!
yea...it pulls good in high rpm's...sounds like i am OK!
well i think know vtec is working...
the other day i worked a 2000+ de-bagded VW-lowered/exhaust, I kept losing him with each upshift
i love it
and as far as hearing VTEC....guess I've been watching too much of Skunk2nR's video of dyno day!!!!!!

If you wanna test for VTEC you will need: a multimeter, wire tap, and a length of wire.
Just tap into your VTEC solenoid wire: A4, then run a wire from there to one of the leads on your multimeter (or volt ohmmeter) and touch the other lead to your chassis to ground it out. Now at 4400 RPM's you should see voltage jump up and stay up until you let off the throttle! That will at least tell you for sure that your ecu is sending the signal.

man you cant hear vtec. lol. when i first bought my gsr after i had my ls integra i could definitly tell when the secondaries opened,4400 is a lil hard but at 5800 you should feel and hear a difference even as stock. get a aem short ram or cold air intake you will hear it. after that you'll be hooked and buy more and more **** for your car and be broke just like me.
you lost to a 2000 jetta?? or a passat. damn, sucks if you lost to a jetta, get some mods on there.
before i had a short ram intake, i took the top cover off my airbox and it made it sound alot better and the filter was still doing its job....w/ just an intake, if you listen really close, you can hear the x-over at 4,400....

Here's my stock GS-R, and I can hear the Vtec kicking in clearly.

trust me u can feel the diff when vtec is working...
a lil while ago my thermostat was stuck wide open so my engine wouldnt fully warm up therefore vtec did not work..
it was so god damn slow, the diff was quite noticable

my VTEC is obvious to me and I have a 40% hearing loss. You should hear it and feel it. Remember you need over 50lbs of oil pressure for it to work so confirm you have good oil pressure.
