P75 Chipping? Worth it?
OK, ive been lookin for some time and researching on ecu upgrades for my 97 LS. JET has a deal, but dont want to be without my car for a week
. And looked on ebay for chips that require a conversion harness, no big deal. So my question is does anyone have a chipped LS that spent the time and money, was it worth it? And what did you go with/do? I have trainning in soldering so it wouldn't be a problem to get a set where i have to de-solder and solder stuff.
97 LS w/
DC headers, hi flow cat, apexi ws 2, AEM v2, Skunk2 Proseries manifold, full MSD ignition.
thanks!

it's worth it. stuff like JET is worthless unless you have a stock car and want 3-5hp and run premium. they can't really tune the ECU for your mods. they say they can, and they can kinda do a half-*** job, but you really need to chip it and get it either a good street tune or dyno tune, either way with wideband.
BTW, that intake manifold is probably costing you a few ponies everywhere in your powerband below 6000rpm.

Yes it is worth it! Be careful if you have never soldered on a honda circuit board, it is easy to damage components if you have never soldered before; and the solder must be reflowed most of the time before you can remove it all.
Look into programs such as Crome and Uberdata. Most ebay chips are crap, but may serve the purpose that you are looking for. Just be careful.

get the uberdata chipping kit: http://www.moates.net/index.php?cPath=25_37
Practice soldering, go get a soldering kit from radio shack they're like 8 bucks, and also get soldering braid to practice desoldering (it's basically braided copper) just place the braid on top of what u want to desolder and then press it with the iron (use a fine tip!)and It'll suck it right up. Also read this, this is for an OBD0 ecu,

Also, there is sooooo much information out there, im not sure where to begin. Is it easy for anybody to tune their ECU? How was everyone else done it?

pgmfi.org has more info than you'll ever want to learn.

I agree, you'll need a bunch of crap too, good luck.
