Doing a swap and ran into some trouble, need help!!! How do I make this distributor fit?
I am putting a 1st gen B16 into my 94 civic DX and I was told I needed a Del Sol Vtec or 92-95 IGSR distributor. Well I got one and it doesn't fit. How am I supposed to put it on there? Do I force it or do I take it apart and switch out all the internals so the original mounting plate can be used?
You have to cut one of the legs off......If you looking at the distrubutor from where the plugs go in...I believe its the lower right leg....but look at how it would fit before you go and cut, I made the mistake..now I have a distrubutor with one leg!
haha...it works tho

Have you done this swap before? How do you know this? I would really like to talk to someone about possible complications in this swap.
you are wrong.. 92-95 GSR /Del Sol VTEC bolts up .. the heads are an almost identical casting..
I know because im using one.

i had a b18c1 swap in mine and I had an LS distrbuter with one of the legs cut off. it works fine but if you got the delsol distributer it should bolt up if not you got the wrong one.
i dont know bout you guys though but that guy B18C5 or someone like that knows a lot of sh*t about swaps like that. like he told me before you should of got the 2nd generation b16 wih your year of car, so that everything plugs right in and so that it would cost you so much. my mathematics of this swap was a little over second generation swap. buy anyhow its always a good lesson. good luck..
a distributer off a del sol vtec is a gen 2 distributor (OBD1) so you need a non OBD (aka OBD0) distributor from a 90-91 integra or you need a jdm vtec distributor which there is no equivalent to in USDM as far as i know. I have an extra 90-91 integra dist. if you want to buy it. you will have to chop a leg off it.

If I chop this leg off, will the other two match up or will only the one on the top line up correctly?
I believe only the top will line up correctly...but the bottom leg comes close enough for you to strap it together...enough to hold it tight.
Im pretty sure 2 bolts will fit. Ive had problems with oil leaking when there are only 2 bolts. If it leaks get a new O ring on the distribtor.
yeah you can chop off a leg but you will need to rewire coz the plugs are different on the b16 motor than the obd1. If i was you i'd look for a del sol distributor or a gsr distributor from obd1
From my experience, I am positive you will solve the problem with a 90-91 integra b18a distributor and one leg chopped off. Just do that. No rewiring at all.
I did chop its leg off, it did fit, but I don't know if it works like that because I haven't put the motor in yet, but I will let you know when I do.
What do you mean you don't know if it will work??!!??? Its going to work, just trust us like Tom Cruze did in Days of Thunder........now Cole when the pase car ducks off I want you to go to the high side in turn four.....you said no one can pase on the outside of turn four!......Im telling you, if you go to the highside you can hold its because we go a perfect match set of tires on...ok Harry when it comes to the car I trust you
