Default Blew up my motor again...

hey all wassup>>> I just recently put in a B16A into a DA and i had the car running really well.... i dynoed 154HP to the wheels and 115TQ to the wheels with I/H/E and a tuned AFC... I got rid of all my NA parts and installed a turbo set up on the car last week tuesday.... I finally got the car running really well and nice and hard and this past weekend it took a sh*t on me... I was only running 5 pounds on the set up but non intercooled and I thought I blew the head gasket.... I replaced that infront of my house over the weekend and its smokin still really bad from the valve cover vent ... So i beleive now I cracked a ring land and Im really upset about that cuz the motor only has 43K miles on it and I only put 2k on it.... what can a b16a take for boost... I have heard that they can hold 9-10 on stock compression??????

Yes they can, but in order for a motor to be able to handle any kind of boost without breaking, it needs to be tuned correctly.

Were you running only the AFC?

Runing 5psi? I really doubt not having an intercooler did it. Open it up, and take some pics, will be easier to judge what made it go so quick.

how did you tune the aFC >? via wideband or from your butt dyno

you blew your motor cuz you werent tuned. even if you were tuend AFR styles... your timing was so high you blew your motor from that .

key here is .. you did not tune your car regardless of what you think tuning is .. esp with the AFC ..

yeah..coming from one of phils customers who cracked cylinder 2/3 coming from a t25 turbo to a sc34 on afc hack is suicide

I mean the car was tuned on a dynoet in Beltsville MD ( my shop SRT ) and it only took like 30-45 min not long at all... It never over heated or ran poopy..... I dont know... we'll just have to wait and see.... here comes LS/VTEC within the next couple of weeks... then I beleive then the car will be up for sale... i will post pics of the car and the set up... if you want to see and hear what it currently has send me and email with " CAR LISTING" as the title ...

You own or work at a shop? Read up on stuff before using it. The AFC advances our timing a lot. If your fuel was correct then your timing was not. You probably grenaded the **** out of your motor.

AFC alone ≠ tuning.

Check out Neptune/Hondata S300/Uberdata/Chrome before your next build, and do some reading about tuning. It'll save you the trouble of blowing it up again. I'm not even going to get into the argument about which of those to run because the thread will turn into a 30 page argument on which is better with no resolution, as usual. Just research them and decide which is best for you.

No offense, but shouldn't you know about this stuff if you are the head tech at a performance shop?

agree'd i'd be scared to bring it there. i guess you can call yourself a tech . dont call yourself a tuner though. you need to do a lil more research on EFi101.com

evans-tuning.com and pgmfi.org
