Default Reliability of a boosted B16A?

Hello,

Im contemplating a B16A in a hatch. I searched for some boosted b16's but didnt really get the answers i was looking for.

I wanna know how reliable they are under boost, and what kinda numbers people are getting with this motor.

Thanks

the norm for any turbo system running stock components is anywhere from 6-9 psi. The block can handle a lot more, but it requires more fuel tuning hardware for it to be safe.

6 psi is a very conservative boost pressure, nice power and fairly reliable. With a fairly stock b16, you could see anywhere from 190-260 hp with the turbo kit depending on the fuel management, and actual kit compenents. (turbo trim, wastegate, downpipe size, exhaust...)

it all depends on tuning. I had a Greddy kit on my 99 Si, and I had a Drag kit on my hatch. Honestly, the greddy may not put out as much power as the Drag, but it's definetely more drivable and reliable. The fuel management that comes with the greddy kit is good, in my opinion. As long as you don't get a boost controller, the greddy kit will be very reliable on a b16. Base boost on the greddy kit was
~5-6 PSI. And the turbo spools up pretty quick, and you don't really need to worry about the manifold cracking or anything. It's the best kit out there for daily driver car.

if you just buy a kit like a greddy, drag, etc it is meant to bolt up to a relatively stock motor and be very reliable. it takes knowledge to have a boosted car. so start reading up
