I bought a valve cover for replacement of a chipped cover. Problem is NOT sure what to do, or do you have steps or special way in taking it off?

 

Just start unbolting all the 10mm bolts around it, pry up the rubber seals under each bolt, unplug any hoses, and remove the valve cover.

 

if i'm not mistaken all of the bolts are 10mm & in plain view. remove all hose, valve cover, suggestions to remove it? uhm, use a socket wrench, and try not to bash the head when you lift it up, lift it straight up, try not to wobble it from side to side, remove valve cover gasket.. & when you replace the cover.. do NOT over torque the bolts into the cover, get them tight & snug but do NOT, I repeat, do NOT over tighten the bolts or bad things will come... good luck (:

i second that...i overtightened one of the bolts, and the head of the bolt twisted off...then when i was driving, oil was leaking out.

I already replaced the valve cover and actually kept in mind about not to tighten the bolts EXCEPT for one bolt. Thinking it was not tight. Guess what? you were right on the money...MY problem now is "HOw do I replace that piece if it's broken? Can I buy it from Honda dealership?

you just took the simpliest of projects and turned it into a large problem congrats

There is a part called a helicoil (Sp?) that looks like a spring that you can thread down into your head and once it is in there it will serve as new threads for your head bolt. Please don't over tighten it this time.

yes this method does work and it isnt expensive.
