Default Electric Water Temp: What color is the stock signal wire?!

Hey im trying to connect my electric water temperature gauge and i have a bswap. I thought the water temp sensor was in the thermo housing but i tapped into the green wire coming from the only sensor in the thermo housing and im not getting any signal on my guage (stock guage works still).

Did i tap the wrong wire? if so which is the right one?

Don't you have to use the sender from the gauge for it to work?

From what you are saying...you want to tap into the engine temperature sensor wire...correct? It is the yellow/green wire...and it can be found easily at one of the instrument gauge cluster plugs. Just make sure you use a resistor in front of stock gauge if you would like to still use the stock unit. If not...just tape off the wire going to the plug and connect your new water gauge wire into the wire coming to the cluster. If by chance, you have both gauges connected....you will have an INCORRECT temp. reading.

I used the stock one and then, the one provided with the new electric gauge........same results.

Ive heard that the senders they gave you are more correct then stock ones. Like there digital as opposed to analog. I always run the senders they give with there gauges, they give it for a reason.

well, the aftermarket senders aren't digital, but they're typically more accurate and faster reading than OEM senders. also, aftermarket gauges may not be calibrated to the OEM sender.

Pretty sure there is a reason why they sell senders and why they are better.
