Default do i need to remove the crank pully when changing rods?

the reason im asking is because im going to pull the motor today and rebuild it over the winter with new rods and pistons. when i changed my timing belt i put the crank pully bolt on really tight that i dont know if i will be able to get it off with the motor in my basement.

if you dont plan on removing the crank it shouldn't matter. just take off the pan, pick up and tray and slide em in. you might want to if you plan on taking to the machine shop for some boring. i would totally take it down just to rebuild it but thats me.

well if you are going to replace the pistons, i will assume the cylinders will need to be bored or honed at the least, which would mean the crank will have to be removed.

If you don't take off the pulley, you will not be able to get the crank off since it will be held on by the oil pump.

You need air...Impact gun. And you dont need to take the crank out to hone the block. Just make sure you clean everything up after
