Default Intermittent bogging while accelerating in my EJ8 D16Y8

Ok, so while I'm accelerating, the engine will bog at random while the rpm builds. It feels like it's bogging half the time, and is fairly noticeable when the "power" cuts in and out while accelerating. I don't wanna hear crap about the engine being torqueless, I've driven other D16Y8s, some D17s, and some D15s and can tell the difference. Mine has a problem.

It has 130,000 miles on it. Has been regularly maintained since I got it, not sure about before hand although it's still in excellent condition. Since the problem I have replaced plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, ran some injector cleaner, and replaced dizzy cap and rotor.

A couple problems my car has that I'm aware of is an oil leak between the tranny and block, which to be honest I'm not going to fool with because it's a lot easier to just keep the oil topped off and I plan on a swap in a few months anyway. Another problem my car has I guess is the main relay. Sometimes after the car is warm it will start very sluggishly, wimpily, and sputtery.

Also, way back during mid summer once when I started the car it through a CEL for random misfire in cylinders 1 and 2 during one of it's shitty starting sessions. I reset it and it hasn't thrown another CEL.

Sorry for all the typing, just trying to be detailed in the description and hoping for some solutions or ideas. Thanks.

Does it at partial throttle but is most noticeable at WOT.

Man I have the same prob, the car accelerates and power cuts at like 3k, press the pedal harder and no rise in rpm kinda spudders, then maybe 2 secs back to normal. I think its the main relay cuz when its hot or humid this happens right after the car is started after a drive. every once in a while it wont start for like a min. or 2. Since the temp have started to drop here in Va I havn't had this prob lately , so I'm guessing when that relay get warm it starts actin up.

Peace

hrm, mine is fine at WOT but at constant partial throttle pedal pressure it seems to accel, bog, accel but only sometimes. I think my case might be cuz of the powerless d16 blah blah you were talking about cuz under WOT mine is fine.

O well sry I cant help... another bumb for you.

Well I have new spark plug wires.

Would the main relay affect the car while it's driving? I know it could cause problems when starting the engine, but what about while you're driving?

same here mine did that for a while, i used octane booster and **** before my probs, then replaced my plugs, put a botttle of booster in and mine was back firing and had flames cracking out the exhaust on acceleration and downshifting, replaced plugs which red bright red with buildup, wires and injectors no probs since and quit using booster

Well mine doesn't backfire or shoot flames out it's *** and I have brand new wires, plugs, and cleaned injectors so don't think that's the problem. Thanks though.

Hey I have the same problem! At just around the 3k rpm my car starts to "jiggle" than it goes back to normal. I changed 2 motor mounts that were damged, which helped a little. Changed my wires, plugs, throttle cable, & p/s + a/c belts. But i still feel it hesitate. 'Specially in 2nd gear @ around three thousand rpm. Wtf is going on? Im thinking about replacing the 3 remaining motor mounts.

Yeah my problems are in about the same RPM range. I just don't think it's the mounts because it continues as I accelerate and there shouldn't be anything to cause the engine to shift. But yeah, it's most noticeable around 2-3k rpm. Was gonna try changing belts, but if it didn't help you I'll put that off
