Re: (sky9)
if oil is shotting out near the oil filter check to see how much oil you have close because it sound like you had the rubber seal let go. or you could have the o-ring from the previous filter stuck on there and didn't notice when you put on the new oil filter

or its just not tight but i've seen sooooo many people double o-ring those things ha more then likely as already stated that is the problem but also check for cracks or any kind of rip in the oil filter

First, let me ask you this...did you convert to a 3 wire IACV like you are supposed to?
It, could be the timing...but not likely it would be more likely to either not start at all or start and run incredibly rough.
And yes, that is the oil pressure switch on the back of the block just above the oil filter.

Make sure your map sensor is hooked up. Mine got disconnected on the ecu side and I had the same problem except the oil leak part. Also one of my Injector clips wasn't seating right.
Also I believe you need a two wire IACV conversion, not a 3 wire.

Check to make sure everything is plugged up inside where the ecu is. I had forgot to plug the big green plug thats not on the ecu but outside of it. It controls the fuel pump prime, speedo and etc..

no, d16y7 uses the 2 wire IACV....to convert to the d16y8 or even just the y8 manifold you will have to convert it to accept the 3 wire IACV that the y8 has. No IACV will equal starting up and immediately dying unless you manually keep the throttle open for it to stay running.

let me see if i can find a good writeup for you

Thats funny my 00 Civic had a 3 wire iacv and I changed it to two wire for the D16y8.
Vtev Models should be 2 wire unless they have an auto tranny I think.

Re: help: d16y8 swap went wrong :( (winkwitstyle)
my swap did the same thing it died after it warmed up
it wasnt the same motor but it through a code for the iacv and i found out we plugged in the wrong plug lol
as for the oil leaking mot likely its a stuck o ring from the old filter
