Default Alarm LED Location?

I have a 2002 accord and I am installing the factory security system. The owner's manual shows the LED located on the drivers door, by the lock ****, up by the window. The installation manual for the security system says to put it on the top of the steering column. Is there a "best" location? I assume if I move it from where it will reach, that the LED wires can be extended? I know this is a pretty simple question....just want to make sure. Thanks...

My LED for my Viper 791XV is mounted upside down in the gauge bezel, centered between the two screws. That LED is bright as hell, and it lights up the whole car at night.

Some say they arent supposed to be mounted in direct sunlight but I've never had a problem with mine on the steering column

on DEI LED's you can take off the red plastic cover and you left with a tiny clear led bulb. The led still blinks red. Drill a small hole and push the led in from behind. Then use hot glue to hold it there. Cleanest led install and when its off you barley notice it.

I agree with MLD211. It doesn't matter where you mount it, it always functions the same. It's all personal preference. I have mine mounted in the A pillar towards the top pointed towards the center of my dash. Looks cool at night or when there's water on my windshield. Good luck.

I would recomend mounting it anywhere that is visible from almost anywhere outside of the car . As well as in a spot that can be replaced ( i.e a pop out panel ) . This in case you want to take it out , you wont have a hole in some panel that is millions to replace

</TD></TR></TABLE> Ditto that, Find the cheapest piece of plastic to replace, [if you had to] and mount it to that, a dummy plug for a switch that you don't have works real good, next best thing is the top piece of the steering column trim, it's highly visible and its a cheap piece of plastic to replace, [relative to other dash or console trim] 94
