Alas, many people will just never understand this, and seem to view a C/F hood purely as some sort of cosmetic modification that they don't want to "ruin" with those "ugly" hood pins. Safety should always be a primary concern, and if one isn't concerned about his own safety or his car, he should at least have respect for the safety of others whom he could be endangering for the sake of "looks".

Well said.
As for suggestions...If you saw the thread on the 841HP EVO (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1378532, I think those might be some sort of hood locks on its CF hood (i could be totally wrong). If they are, I think they look better than the conventional hood pin setup and maybe serve its function just as well.

Im glad you think the real pins are ugly. They work, and they do it VERY well...kinda why racing teams use that style.
But hey, theyre ugly and youll like it when your hood flies up...because it looks cool arching toward the windshield.
Go ahead and get an inferior design, its your car. Just dont drive anywhere near me on the road

im just going to bite my lip.
im asking before i drill holes for hood pins that look nasty, and throw off the lines of the car... is there any other option.
instead, the h-t haters crew see one peson start to argue/flame and here some 35 more.

yea they are ugly.....a cf hood is a beautiful thing, but its just really dangerous. do what you want its YOUR car....but it might cost you a new CF hood, windshield and body work. but hey, you only make the same mistake once right?

Again, these are not intended to be a substitute for true hood pins, and should not be used as such.

how do all of you measure where to drill the hole?
On my pins I put a dab of grease on the top of the post once I installed it, and then closed the hood lightly and looked where the grease was.
This was a little offplace but it ended up working fine

That is how I did mine also, and it worked well.

why not, look at the top one, they use a roll pin in a steel socket, roll pins are at least as strong as cotter pins since they are made of formed spring steel instead of bent wire.
backup?

If youve ever played with them, you would understand why not.
The stud can spin, the cap can spin, the lock can fail (in either direction).
Its a complicated answer to a simple question.
Mr Gasket makes a set of the hood locks. If you want to know more about why they should NOT be used as pins, I encourage you to call and ask why they tell people that directly on the package.
(Hood locks are NOT hood pins. Theyre designed to keep people out for a limited amount of time (thieves dont try to get in for very long). The wind 'attacks' the hood constantly when you drive.)
funtion > fashion
simple > complicated
Seriously, I cant believe we're having a discussion about this...
Use whatever you want...or not for that matter. When your hood flies up, dont exect any sympathy from people.
Oh, and I also used grease on the pin studs to see where they would connect with the hood - then I went from the bottom up to make the first hole, and top down to finish it out.

stop being a retard, there is nothing you can do but run those "ugly" hood pins.
you do know that you arent even really allowed to run a cf hood on the street legally. too many reasons why. like how it doesnt absorb impact well incase you were in an accident.
so with that being said, at the very ******* least, get the damn hood pins. not just for the safety of others, but also for yourself. i

im not saying i dont want to run them.
im not saying its safe to not have them.
im asking anyone if there is a "better looking" solution.
perhaps dzus fastners? has anyone pulled that off?

You people made your point, now get off the goddamn bandwagon already. It was my initial reaction too but now it's pretty tired.
That being said, I had the ugly *** hood pins for a long time, looked for some alternative, and the dzus are the only thing I came across. I never tried them, never found someone that sells them, but I saw them in person on that Venom drag Toyota. They will be a pain in the *** to install. I kind of wish you could paint-match the normal style hood pins, at least the base plate, not so much for looks but to get the stupid ricers off my ***.
Those "JDM" hood locks are $15 at Pep Boys. They are not intended to hold the hood down, but to be used in conjunction with either the stock hood latch on a stock hood or normal style pins. That picture of the brown mustang? hood with carbon fiber JDM hood locks makes me want to puke on myself.
