GReddy 18G internal wastegate actuator, causing vaccum leak?
Long story short:
'99 Civic Si 18G GReddy kit... car pulls 20 in. hg. of vaccum at idle when the wastegate actuator is not connected to a vaccum line. Connect the line, vaccum drops to about 2 in. hg. What gives?
The car is overboosting which has led me to track down the problem to the gate. What is inside the actuator assembly? A diaphragm? Can this be adjusted to work again and stop the vaccum leak? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

most likely torn diaphram because same thing happened to mine... it started boostin up to like 10-13 psi.. the turbo is off now.. but im thnkin about shutting that hole n modifying the manifold for a external gate.....
How does the diaphragm inside actually get torn? Would having the actuator too close to the manifold cause this?<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by nfn15037 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Probably a torn diaphram inside the actuator.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Could be heat damage, improper assembly @ the factpry, a small burr on the inside of the casnister or even some dirt grit getting in there through the vac line and abrading the diaphram over time.
