Default thinking of b20 block

currentlly im running a full jdm b16 thinking of swapping out the block with a b20 block. just curious on who has it and if they like it. Also wondering with that block would my redline be the same. mostlly just looking for more torque but dont want to run boost and u can get a b20 block for cheap. Thanks

Redline would be the same if you keep the stock ECU but there's a bunch a stuff that would need upgrading/changing. . .for example, injectors, ECU, FPR, HG etc.

some thing to think about

If you keep the 8000 rpm redline

your piston speeds go from

77.4 mm 8000 RPM 20.6 meters/sec

to

89.0 mm 8000 RPM 23.7 m/s

which is the equivelant of running a stock b16 to 9100 rpm

9000 RPM 23.2 m/s

which is why people have problems with there b20's especially since the majority of the b20b blocks were never meant to exceed 6750 rpm.

so if i put pistons and rods into the block and the right stuff in the head would it be possible to rev to 9500

Stock block b16s hold up till 9,100, and yes the piston speeds will be similar with an 8,000 rpm b20. The problem is the rod bolts, heavier pistons, etc w. the b20.

If it were my motor, i would buy some forged rods (eagles or somthing) and some quality forged pistons. Then u shouldnt have much of a problem with 9,000 rpms if u can make power there. It gets tougher to make power that high with the 89mm stroke unless u got the cams and breathability 2 make it happen.

actually the main problem is the cyclinders a block guard is required, damage to the cylinders begins to occur at higher rpms almost immediately on many I've seen.

On another note 9500 is not really needed a competent build with an LSD good suspension and the right gearing will overwhelm the tires and make awesome street power with an 8000 rpm cutoff and still make 250 hp and 170 lb ft of tq to the flywheel
