b18c1...with FMU..safe boost level?
I've decided that after I get my b18c1's rings done and back in the car, I'd like to boost. I'm not going to do it see how fast it can go, I just want it for some extra power...I've got the hook up on some turbo pieces such as the turbo, intercooler, pipes.....anyways.......what is a safe boost level to run using a FMU(considering there is no room for precise tuning)?.....my guess would be 5 or 6......but that's just a guess.
My opinion, there is no safe level on an fmu. Your going to need injectors anyway. The $150 you'll put into the fmu and checkvalves could just as easily go into a chipped ecu. Read up on uberdata, load your map, play around with it, and you'll have a more reliable and efficient fuel system, and be able to run open loop. An fmu will screw with your stock sensors and foul your plugs and o2 sensor real fast being that you'll be running too rich when in boost. Just my recomondation, and probably everyone else's.
$55 = Moates.net will chip your ECU
$50-$100 = DSM 450cc injectors, good for 300-325 HP
$89-$99 = Walbro 255lph fuel pump
You dont even need your own burner or Ostrich Romulator. You can meet up with a local who has them and use it to tune your setup along with a borrowed wideband setup. If you do choose to get your own burner it is $55-$85 for one.
