tweeter mount
can someone post a picture of the backside of the tweeter mounted to the panel? i just got a used 4th gen and it didn't have speakers and my polk db 6500's i just got don't have a mount for it. thanks
Did you get an S, or an Si or VTEC? Because the S has different dash grills, which don't actually have tweeter mounts. You'd have to make your own.
Anyway, here's a pic from my Si:

The stock tweeter mounts in the center with a short screw, I doubt most aftermarket tweeters will mount the same way. I had to drill an extra hole in the metal backing to get my Infinity tweeters to mount. It was a PITA.
By they way, the tweeters face almost straight backward when the grill is in, even though they're behind the angled part.

if they face backwards wouldn't they be pointing inot the plastic with no holes? i guess i'll get some sheet metal and bend it to mount them withi wonder how it's work with a fiberglassed front with a surface mounted tweeter?
edit: i have an si 4ws

Ha ha, I mean they face straight toward you (the back of the car). The holes are actually in the angled part too. The flat part of the grill is unvented.
You can get a roll of steel band that's easy to bend around, but it shouldn't be necessary. The stock metal bracket should mount it just fine and probably sturdier.
My Infinity components - Kappa Reference 60.5cs - are actually all the sound in my car right now (no rear speakers or sub), and they match the task surprisingly well. They're amp'ed. The mids in the doors sound a little thuddy, so I'll have to work on that. The highs in the dash are pretty good, the problem is, they get a little overpowering right up there by your head. I had to turn the treble on my deck down a little bit to mellow it out.
I put some egg carton-shaped foam behind the tweeters to try and eliminate possible resonance, I can't tell if it had any effect yet.

dont buy add on tweeters, buy a full component set. If u have coaxials of a certain brand and add tweeters of a different brand u will have a tambor difference. which is an audible difference in the speakers, which destroys the realistic sound of a stereo system.
if u like a lot of highs buy an MB quart component set, reference or premium are reasonably priced for an exceptional sound. the quart tweeters are full metal and have tremendous off-axis response. they are often times too bright for me.
The reference .75" tweeters fit right into a 5th gens tweeter location so I would guess they would do the same for a 4th gen.

i don't know if i forgot to mention it or not but just to let you know i don't have any tweeters in my car and yes i know hwo to pop off the bracket. i'm not that retarded. the stock bracket is not there and wanted to figure out how to make my own. thanks to those who understood me
My audio place I usually go to are suggesting a set of small coaxials (3.5" or 4") to place in the dash mounts.
Anybody know someone who has done it? They're saying they'll fit fine, but I'm skeptical.

You mean to use as a mid and go 3-way? I don't think a 4" mid would fit up there. Even if it did, you'd have to cut away the front of the grill, since there are no holes there for the sound to go through. However, there are smaller dome mids that might fit. If you could pull it off that would be awesome.
I'm thinking of pulling out my door vents (since all they do is rattle) and putting some small dome midranges there. They point right at you. The challenge again is finding something that will fit, and then finding a 3-way passive crossover with the right cutoff points.

I've got 4" mid range in my dash. Custom fabricated a set of plates using fibreglass and keep the tweeter in the stock location. Did have to cut out the plastic in the speaker grill as suggested.
I have a new set of speaker grills coming so if you still need I can send you the little metal mounts of those when they arrive

i took another trip to the junkyard (if you read my other thread) and picked up the tweeter covers/mounts from that one. i didn't notice them before since they were under a pile of interior trim.
