Default TD04 14G Water or Oil cooled?

I have a 14G TD04 turbo and the guy I bought it from was clearly running it w/ an oil feed. But If I can I'd like to avoid running the oil line and everything if I can just run coolant instead.

I know the 16G's off WRXs are coolant, but are the 14B/Gs?+

Thanks,
Nick

The normal setup is either Oil or Oil/Coolant. If its an oil turbo... it needs it not just for cooling but for lubrication... don't skimp out here

Word.

I already have an oil feed and return, I was just wondering if it was supposed to get oil or coolant. Don't want to fubar anything here.

So if it had 2 inlet it would more than likely be oil/coolant fed, but if its only got one line its more than likely oil only?

Thanks for the replys guys.

I just looked at the turbo it says 16. It's also got 4 inlets/outlets. 2 are blocked off. I'm gong to assume its oil/coolant fed, but is it okay to just use oil?

You must have a decent size turbo if its oil and coolant fed. And if you can use both i would.

Actually its an uber-small turbo. This weekend we just set it up to be oil cooled. Installation of the turbo kit was such a pain in the ***, with leaky injectors, blown o-rings, and broken bolts.

I'm glad to be back at work so I can get some R&R
