dangerous temps?
If your using oem clearances than 20w-50 is to heavy.Continuous oil temps over over 270* will break down the oil pretty fast.Over 300* and the oil will fail.A rule of thumb is 30* over water temp.that usually puts it at about 210*.
Many road racers say their oil hits 240-250 at the most w/o any coolers, and don't have issues. Coolant over 220F is usually a bad idea, so the 30F rule seems to hold true.

Motor is stock.. So 20-50 is too heavy?

i always run 10w-40 in my boosted cars, and depending on if its a crap motor ill run lucas as well in there.
i would get concerned if my oil was constantly running over 250ish

So I shouldnt be worried if mine are @ 230ish. When I start to do pulls on the freeway then it shoots up. Maybe Ill invest in an oil cooler...
