is it coming from your shifter area or somewhere else?

 

I get the same noise. When downshifting into 2nd at even low rpm's it grinds just a little. I have MY03, and it definately comes from the tranny.

 

Same her. mines an 04 and i have only 8,000. Some people said to change the oil. Havent done that yet

Push the clutch in when you shift

Just kiddin, but my buddy has a MY04 with only about 8-9,000 miles on it and his had the same sound until he switched the tranny fluid to GM syncromesh. Now all is well

 

Its definately coming from under the hood.

Could this have something to do with the bulletin on gear backlash in the tranny? Just a suggestion...

does it grind all the time or is it intermittant? my 2nd gear grinds sometimes, but it is mostly my fault b/c i get lazy and don't push the clutch down all the way. i have a 03 as well.
