Default problems at 4900-5300 rpm

im actually a mod over at SHO civic forums. i got a problem and im wondering if someone here could help me out. i have a obd1 p72 ecu with a vafc
ok heas the problem....at light throttle maybe about 15 percent throttle at 4900-5300 my car kinda cuts out and bogs. all ignition parts are good i even bypass my msd to see if it could be that and its good. all tune up stuff is good. i tired moving my vtec engagement and it made no difference still runs like **** at that rpm. checked the tps voltage and its good. i checked my harness and everything looked good. so wat i did was i removed my vafc and my obd1 p72 ecu and put a stock 2000 civic ecu in and it fixed the problem. im guessing somehow its running rich at that point. so what i did was i tired leaning it out and richening around those rpms and see if it made a difference and it didnt.

im stumped on this one...no check engine light and runs fine if u mash the throttle WOT. this just started happenening past 2 weeks. vafc tuner didnt adjust anything on partial throttle either

has anyone experienced any problems with the vafc going bad somehow. somehow i think the problem is btween the vafc the harness or the ecu somehow. let me know what you guys think. ive never been stmuped like this for a very long time

UpDate:came back from a drive and no matter how much i lean or richen it up around that rpm is still does it. you know what is wierd though is that i hear a humming sound like the sound a diesel truck mans when its braking. i been hearing it for a while on my car but today when i had the si ecu it didnt do it but the moment i plugged my gsr ecu back in it started making that humming sound at idle.the sound is intermittent only hums at idle once or twice every couple minutes.i always thought it was a sound from the tranny or something but why would the si ecu get rid of that sound and the cutting out. i rechecked my jumper harness and everything looks good. im trying to think still its something in the vafc, ecu, or jumper harness.....all three options cost money and i always hate shotgunning parts onto the car and have it not fix the problem but this time im stuck.

let me know what you guys here think..thanks alot

when's the last time you changed your oil and oil filter?, does this happen when vtec actually engages, check you're vtec solenoid to see if it's clogged, my car was running shitty like that b/c my oil filter was clogged and after I replaced it, it ran like a champ

it runs good with the si ecu p2t. i did think it was vtec related at first but when i tried the different ecu it kinda threw me off. no im thinking its either a electircal wiring problem or a rich/lean problem. but ive had my setup tuned for 2 years and never had this till recently.
