rpm fluctuating at idle (searched but nothing about THIS exact problem found)
Hallo,
i have a problem with some of our Turbo cars.
i have allready searched and found a few topics but in nearly every of this topics the EACV was named to produces this failure but this it what i can say is it NOT! so this thread will be about any other possibility of rpm fluctuating at idle.
here is what happens:
at idle (especialy when the car is warmed up) the rpm fluctuates between 700-1600rpm
EACV is ok... it runs find befor the turbo build and an exchange also doesn't help.
the problem gets worse with 2,5 or 3bar map sensors... with the stock map sensor the problem is also there but not that bad.
if i play with the idle mixture the thing changes... but i can't get it away by 100%
hope to get some new ideas?
Thanks
Malte.

what is an eacv? you mean iacv (idle air control valve)? if your motor is obd1.. check the the fitv (fast idle..) it may just need to be tightened and cleaned.
Are you using an ECU/software that can be scaled for other MAP sensors?
With the engine warmed up, what does the idle settle to if you unplug the IACV? Did those engines come equipped with a FITV...I didn't think they did? Just to note though, the IACV was originally called an EACV (electronic vs. idle air control valve).
It sounds like you might have a vacuum leak.

Engine Management can be recalibrated for other mapsensors... car is also tuned... FITV? Whats this, but i think not... IACV is the only way to control idle (plus the screw in the TB)
Vacuum leak is also not the problem because then we had vacuum leaks at more then one car at the same time... but also checked that... nothing found.

iacv is the idle air contol valve.. if you have an obd1 throttle body it will be attatched to the bottom of it. take that off and you may need to tighten it.. you can do it with a flat head screw driver.

Are you referring to the FITV? IACV is on the intake manifold, FITV is under the throttle body.
