Default jg ported ls head?? shed light.... Link for pics

I have a chance to get a jg ported head w/ welded chambers for a great deal(500$) and want to know if anyone has any experience with them. This would be going on my ls with crower 403's, i/h/e/ and ys1 tranny. Just want to know if it would be a worthy buy, TIA

Nothing against JG but I wouldn'd spend the money to either buy a ported ls head or pay to get one ported. It's just not a good use of your money imo.I feel your better off buying a stock B16 head and doing the ls/vtec conversion.Even a stock B16 head will make more power then the ported ls head in most cases.

JG does good work, decide what you want to spend your money on. A B-16 head with cams springs, ret., intake, and conversion kit will make more power.

ya i always understand in the back of my head that a vtec head will generally make more power, however i am always one to try and be the underdog , anyway i think at this point i will take into account the cost/benifit idea.

enh, I don't agree

I made 165whp with just cams valve springs, and bolt ons.

non-vtec is not as bad as people think, everyone just has "vtack" engrained in their brain.

No doubt a vtec head has more overall potential for large numbers, but you can get good power non-vtec for a lot less hassel than doing a vtec conversion.

this head seems overpriced

but, most people have the full longblock and then buy the head.

When they could make plenty of power by picking up a set of cams (which are much cheaper for non-vtec)
